FIVE groups from across Ealing were recognised for their efforts in making a difference to the community at the second Athul Pathak Community Awards in the Commons.
Those honoured were:
Ealing Half Marathon
Sunrise Tamil Community Centre, Southall, which helps elderly Tamils
Getting Together, of Hanwell, which aims to reduce isolation among the elderly
Voice of Dalit International in Ealing, which tries to empower the poorest and most marginalised in society
Southall Sports Trust, uniting children and young adults across the town through sport.
Seven awards in total were made by Atul Pathak, managing director of the Appt Corporation, one of London’s leading McDonald’s franchisees.
Each recipient was presented with a certificate and a donation to put towards a particular project or objective.
The awards also included a ‘partnership pledge’ to give them access to Appt Corporation’s management team who can offer support ranging from advice in marketing, PR or finance.
Mr Pathak said: “As a business, our success relies heavily on the communities in which we operate so it is important we engage and champion local organisations.
“These awards are a little way of saying thank-you to the recipients for all they do for the communities we are proud to be a part of.”
