CARNIVAL time is nearly here with the Sounds of Acton festival this coming Saturday (11) in Acton Park.

Reggae and jungle music legend General Levy will be headlining this year’s carnival ,with hits including Incredible and Shake What Ya Mama Gave Ya.

The carnival will be packed with live music and dance performances, food and drink and a colourful procession, offering something for people of all ages.

The procession is set to leave Woodlands Park and move along to Acton Park, via Crown Street and the High Street.

Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for leisure, said: “Come rain or shine, Acton Carnival is always a roaring success. It celebrates all the great things about this part of west London - the food, the music and communities living together.!

The main stage, hosted by Westside 89.6 FM presenters, will showcase talent from Acton High School and Youth Street Beats. Quincy and Eljai will also be performing on the main stage.

The parent chill-out zone will include a wild animal centre, while West Ealing Library offers activities for younger children.

A Pint of Science will also be in the zone, with experiments and fun activities to keep children occupied while adults take a break.

The carnival will run from midday to 7pm in Acton Park. Entry is £2 per person and children aged 12 and under are free. A family ticket is £5, which covers entry for two adults and up to three children aged 12-16.

Ealing Beer Festival is on from tomorrow (Wednesday) to Saturday in Walpole Park, Ealing, with more than 300 varieties of real ale shipped from all over the country.

Run by the West Middlesex branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the event celebrates its 26th anniversary this year.

Visitors wishing to sample the drinks must be aged 18 or over, and those under 21 will require proof of age.

Children are allowed in free until 8pm. For safety reasons, they will be requested to leave the site after this time. Gates open noon-10.30pm each day (6pm Saturday). Entry is £4. CAMRA members receive a discount of £2.
