THE taps to Walpole Park’s water play fountains were turned on by Ealing Council on the hottest day of the year on Wednesday.

The new forest fountain play set includes two play-operated pumps, a see-saw pump and a long handle pump, which activate five fountains, each with a different spray pattern at the top.

The see-saw requires two children to operate. The long-handle pump can be operated by one child or several children, depending on their strength and determination.

The five masts create different types of water spray, giving both toddlers and children something to enjoy.

Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for leisure, said: “Walpole Park has been completely transformed and it looks amazing.

“This weather is perfect for children to explore the new equipment while cooling down.”

The improvements, costing £407,000, were specifically designed for the park.
