A TOTAL of 27 charity swimmers at Acton and Northolt leisure centres who took part in the World’s Charity Biggest Swim raised £2,624 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

In April each year, around 23,000 people across the UK take part in the swim, which in the past 28 years has collected more than £40m for good causes.

The 27 local swimmers joined in this year’s event at Everyone Active Acton and Northolt centres and swam 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k distances, individually or as part of a team.

“This was an incredible feat,” said Acton general manager Luke Charlton. “There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering the swimmers from the poolside.

“I’m delighted the Ealing swimming community raised so much for such an important charity.”

Everyone Active operates the centres for Ealing Council.
