CAN you offer a Tuesday meeting room for one afternoon a month to an Ealing charity thatʼs losing its regular base at the Kavah Café in New Broadway.

Around 15-20 members of the West London branch of Epilepsy Action meet up monthly for a coffee and chat - and itʼs an important date in their diary.

Helen Lane, chair of the group, said: “These Tuesday afternoon slots are a huge support to our members and Iʼve had calls from people asking me to promise that Iʼll find an alternative venue.

“Some people donʼt like talking about epilepsy - except to other people with the condition who they know will really understand where theyʼre coming from, whatever type of epilepsy they have.”

The West London group meets on the third Tuesday of each month for the informal coffee and chat sessions, where members talk about anything including work, hobbies or health.

Kavah is perfectly placed for people arriving by public transport, but the café is selling up and the new owner wonʼt be able to accommodate the group.

Dave Smith, a regular attendee, said: “I know Iʼm speaking for the group when I say how incredibly valuable these Tuesday afternoon meet-ups are to us and how important it is we find somewhere else fast!”

The West London group also meets on the first Monday of every month in the evening at Ealing Town Hall for a more formal meeting, usually incorporating a speaker.

Helen said: “Both monthly meetings are significant but there are people that simply prefer the more informal feel of a coffee and a chat – I want to make sure we carry on supporting everyone.”
