THE Big Lunch, the biggest picnic event of the summer, takes place in Walpole Park on Sunday, June 7.

It is the UK’s annual munch-together, encouraging friends and neighbours to have their lunch together and spend some quality time outdoors getting to know one another better.

As part of the celebrations, there will be Walpole Park’s Brazilian chef in residence cooking up taster plates for people to try.

There will also be stalls, activities for children and a Samba band. The Big Lunch run from 11am-4pm.

All events are free and residents are encouraged to bring food, drink, friends and family.

On Sunday June 7, thousands of communities will sit down for a Big Lunch with neighbours they may not know and Halifax, the banking group committed to bringing communities closer together, is proud to support The Big Lunch as part of its Helping Britain Prosper Plan.

Over the years, millions of people have taken part in Big Lunches, a Lottery-funded initiative from the Eden Project, demonstrating how we’re better equipped to tackle the problems we face when we face them together.

Anyone can request a free Big Lunch pack, which contains invitations, posters, seeds and stickers to organise an event for neighbours.

Halifax is proud to support The Big Lunch and give extra back to communities. Halifax branches are getting involved and organising Big Lunches all around the country. To find out more please visit: www.halifaxcommunities.co.uk/thebiglunch
