A CHARITY which has Prince Charles as its president will be running a day of volunteering this coming Friday (15).

Business in the Community’s Give & Gain Day involves thousands of employees giving up a day of their time to support community groups and schools.

The Jamie Oliver Foundation, working alongside the charity, has convened volunteers to work at two Ealing primary schools, Ravenor and Perivale, where food will be cooked using the chef’s recipes.

Perivale Primary School also has 15 business volunteers supporting reading sessions, to improve the literacy and confidence in all year groups.

Social enterprise Accession, based at The Broadway, West Ealing, has recruited 12 volunteers to work on a number of gardening tasks, including making compost bins and hanging baskets for sale.

It is expected that, across London, 1,500 volunteers will be involved on the day.

Last year’s Give & Gain Day had 2,400 employee volunteers, with the equivalent of £1.8m donated in the value of time.
