EALING residents are being invited to take part in an event at the town hall tomorrow (Friday) to commemorate the end of World War Two.
It will be the anniversary of VE-Day (Victory in Europe Day), marking 70 years since the end of the conflict in Europe.
On the Town Hall steps at 3pm, there will be speeches and a two-minute silence.
The historic day will be marked across the UK with three days of events, including a parade, service of thanksgiving and star-studded concert in central London.
There will also be street parties and beacon-lighting taking across the country.
Ealing Council recently honoured those who gave their lives through conflict by reviewing all its war memorials, to ensure they are in good condition, so that residents can view them as part of the borough’s historic walks.
A two-minute silence also takes place annually for Armistice Day on the Ealing Town Hall steps, while other official Remembrance Day services and events take place at war memorials across the borough.
