SUMMER is around the corner and, to celebrate, Everyone Active Acton Centre – in partnership with Ealing Council - is opening its doors for a beach-themed open day this Saturday from 1-6.30pm.

The pool area will be turned into a beach, with themed inflatables including beach balls, palm trees and bananas.

Entry is free and open to everyone, though a small donation to the Anthony Nolan Trust is recommended.

The trust supports people with blood cancer and blood disorders, as well as conducting research.

For more details, call the centre on 020 8825 9001 or ask at reception.

Meanwhile, Twyford Sports Centre, operated by Everyone Active, is hosting the Old Actonians Youth FC five-hour five-a-side match, to raise money for Breast Cancer Care on Sunday.

England and Arsenal star Rachel Yankey will make a special appearance and Arsenal Ladies have donated signed items to be raffled.

The event will be run by Peter Prickett, of Old Actonians Youth FC, who feels strongly about the cause.

He said: “Prior to Christmas 2014, my mother was unfortunately diagnosed with breast cancer.

“I coach the under 14 group at Old Actonians and found that two of the parents from my team, as well as the wife of another coach, were also affected. I decided that, as a club, we should try to do what we can for this important cause.

“The idea is that anyone can play 10-15 minutes before allowing the next person to take their place.

“The aim is that the game never stops from the beginning at 10am until the final whistle at 3pm. The match is open to all, any age, any gender and any fitness level.”
