AS the weather warms, Ealing Council is opening the doors to its Rickyard education centre in Walpole Park, offering residents of all ages a range of arts and crafts workshops and performances.
Activities start on Saturday, April 25, with an electric willow-weaving workshop, run by digital artists Codasign.
Using willow from Walpole Park, they will take a new approach to weaving from nature by working and combining it with conductive thread. The art works created will be connected to an electronic touch board to create a sonic sculpture.
The natural wood theme continues on Saturday, May 2, with wood carving expert Sophia Demetriou’s workshop. Attendees will be taught some basic carving skills and create a project using wood from the park.
Park Sounds 2 will take place on Saturday, May 9. Musicians will be spread out across the park, putting on ‘pocket’ performances, finishing with a final performance at the Rickyard.
Sessions run from 2-5pm in the Rickyard, Walpole Park, W5. Activities are free and equipment and materials will be provided. Booking is not required, but spaces are limited.
