SIX parliamentary candidates for Ealing Central and Acton were present at an election hustings at the Church of Ascension in Hanger Hill this week.
Angie Bray (Conservative), Rupa Huq (Labour), Jon Ball (Liberal Democrat), Peter Florence (UKIP), Tom Sharman (Green) and Independent Jonathan Notley answered questions in the packed church hall.
The event was hosted by Churches Together, who are aiming to encourage greater political involvement from Christians, and was chaired by Charles Mynors, who read out questions sent to him by the audience in advance of the evening.
Questions varied from financial inequality and drugs to climate change and foreign aid.
Hot topics were the closures of A&E across the borough and food banks, which drew particularly vocal reactions from a section of the audience.
Churches Together wants Christians to become more involved in politics and to address issues in Ealing together.
There is an Ealing Central and Acton inter-community hustings on Monday at Hayashen in Mill Hill Road.
