THE Ealing Half Marathon is once again in the running to be declared the nation’s best – and is calling on its loyal army of supporters to help it be named No.1.

The race beat off competition from longer-established rivals to be named the UK's best half marathon when The Running Awards in association with everydayhero held its inaugural event last April.

It has once again been nominated, and organisers hope those who know the event will lend their votes ahead of this year’s awards ceremony, at The O2 on April 24.

Event co-ordinator Sandra Courtney said: “We’ve always been grateful for the fantastic feedback left on running websites by those who’ve taken part, and it would be really special to hold on to this award for another year.”

Competition is stiff, with the Bupa Great North Run and Royal Parks Half among the races on the 12-strong shortlist, but Sandra said she hopes the “Ealing Feeling” will once again see the race over the finishing line in first place.

The Ealing Half team has the chance of double success, with its Osterley Park 10K event – held in conjunction with the National Trust – nominated in a separate category.

“The Ealing Half is a real community event, supported by runners from Ealing Eagles, the local churches, and attracting thousands of people out on the streets to support runners on the day,” said Sandra.

“Any proceeds from our race are ploughed back into the local running community, so an award for the race is an honour for the whole of Ealing. We’d love people to show their support by voting.”
