THE Hanwell Hootie, the free one-day music festival in Hanwell, will have 45 bands spread over 11 venues on Saturday March 28.

The festival boasts a healthy mix of up-and-coming, local and established bands serving up a wide range of music, from reggae to grunge, funk to indie and heavy metal!

Hanwell has been dubbed the “Home of Loud”, due to the Marshall amp that was created there in 1962 following demands from performers like Pete Townshend.

When Jim Marshall died in 2012, it was decided to hold an annual music festival to continue his legacy.

The event starts at 4pm at the Hanwell Clock Tower with a “minute of loud” before spreading to pubs, all within walking distance.

Marshall Amplification continues to sponsor the event, which celebrates the rich heritage of music in the borough of Ealing.

Jon Ellery, managing director at Marshall, said: "Our philosophy with the festival is about celebrating our roots, bringing fantastic live music to small venues in Hanwell and putting the area back on the music map.”

Back by popular demand are Du Bellows, of whom Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) said: "They are by far one of the most interesting and musically adept bands I have seen recently.”

This year’s line-up includes The Shanty, a party-reggae band with stomping bass, soulful hooks and party vibes; Water-knot, a Floydian space rock quartet known for their eerily ripping guitar hooks and soul searching melodies; and Felix Hagan and The Family, a seven-piece beast made of make-up and hairspray, fusing punk, rock, pop and musical theatre..
