TWO Ealing Tesco stores donated £3,000 to six community groups as part of their Helping Hand competition.
Tesco Express and Metro, in Haven Green and Ealing Broadway respectively, invited shoppers to nominate community groups to win a share of the prize money.
Originally, the donation was set at £2,500 but this was upped by £500 to accommodate the number of worthwhile causes.
The six winners were chosen by the store managers and include Ealing Swimming Club, St John Fisher Catholic Primary School and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Women’s Group.
School deputy head Tracey Brosnan said: “We are delighted to use this money towards the purchase of awnings for the playground.”
The remaining groups were St Paul’s Community Playschool, Meadow House Hospice and Pear Tree Parent and Toddler Group.
Each of the causes receives £500.
