BANKSY, the legendary anonymous graffiti artist, could just be among guests attending the opening of Roche Art urban street art gallery in Ealing.

The event will be on December 5 from 5-9pm on the site of the former Gallery Travid Fine Arts, 56 St Mary’s Road. Entry will be free.

The gallery will be showcasing art by the Secret Society of Super Villain Artists, as well as works by Banksy and others.

Gallery owner Frankie Roche, 52, said: “Urban art is on the increase as people can relate to it more than if they were looking at an oil painting. Banksy is anonymous, yet he is an international artist.”

Known as SSOSVA, pronounced s-s’over, the secret society was formed in 1921 by an individual known as Silent Bill.

It is made up of a diverse mix of artists who, through their art, aim to make a difference in the world - while having fun.

SSOSVA’s unique symbol, which includes skull and crossbones, can make it seem anarchic, but the society is adamant it does not condone any vandalism.

It says its branding is nothing more than symbolism and is similar to a secret handshake or passing nod, so members can instantly recognise each other.

As Banksy is so secretive, he could attend the opening without being recognised.

This will be a second gallery for Roche Art, the first being in Ladbroke Grove.
