AN 11-year-old Acton girl raised hundreds of pounds for Great Ormond Street children’s hospital by holding bake sales outside her home.
Anya Jagotincev, of Bromyard Avenue, a pupil at West London Free School, went to work in half-term.
She started with a target of £50 but has now raised more than £287.
Her grandmother and friends all put on their aprons to whisk up a variety of cakes, including biscuits, cupcakes, rocky-roads, flapjacks and Swiss rolls.
Anya, who knows at first-hand the care on offer at Great Ormond Street, battles with juvenile arthritis and has been a patient there for four years.
She said: "I chose GOSH as a charity because I go there myself and I see the wonderful work done by doctors and nurses.
“Lots of my friends came to help and it was a great half-term activity.”
Her mum, Jasna, 45, praised her daughter’s fund-raising efforts and hopes others will follow her example.
She said: “Anya deals with her condition very well and we are tremendously proud of her.
“Local people, including the police, a vicar and lots of neighbouring families, have been very generous.”
Hayley Richardson, senior fund-raising executive for GOSH, said: “It’s really heart-warming to hear about the fantastic bake sale. The money raised will help us make a difference for patients and their families from across the UK.”
