EALING has received one of 16 grants from the Community Cycling Fund for London to encourage new or infrequent cyclists to saddle up.

Up skills on Wheels (A.P.P.L.E.), based in Acton, has been awarded a top-up grant of £1,000.

The money will be used to build on cycling activities offered last year at the youth club, which involved more than 100 young people in the district.

A.P.P.L.E project manager Joy Goddard said: “We have started some significant work with young people in Acton around cycling, bike maintenance and bike skills.

“This award will support young mentors, to share their skills and knowledge with others. Thank you!"

The Community Cycling Fund for London is a grant scheme funded by Transport for London and administered by London Cycling Campaign.

It has encouraged 36,000 Londoners to get cycling since 2007 and aims to inspire those traditionally under-represented in cycling, such as women, children and disabled people.
