INDIVIDUALS and groups who improve their neighbourhoods were honoured at the sixth annual Recognising Oustanding Achievement of Residents (ROAR) Awards at Ealing Town Hall.

This year’s event attracted a total of 37 nominations across the three categories available.

This year’s winners were:

Harleyford Manor Residents Association in the outstanding contribution by a group category.

The team organised a programme of social events to help build strong relationships and reduce social isolation in their community.

Morwenna Spencer, Shakira Bernard and Riana Howarth, of Acton High School, in the outstanding achievements by persons under 25 category.

They volunteer their time each week to lead the Sheltered Housing Choir, which helps reduce social isolation among older people in the borough.

Their teaching has taken the choir to new heights, resulting in a number of performances.

Jean Brooker in the outstanding contribution by an individual category.

Working closely with Ealing Council, she dedicates endless hours and energy to help regeneration on the Havelock Estate in Southall.

She is a driving force of residents’ causes and ensures vulnerable residents are supported and heard.

The Mayor of Ealing, Cllr Tej Ram Bagha, was joined by council leader Julian Bell and Stephen Pound MP as winners were presented with their trophies and cheques.
