A TEACHER from Ealing is holding fitness boot camp sessions at Ealing Common to raise money for charity while taking part in next year’s London Marathon.

Tony Gear, of Ealing Village, will be running classes throughout November and December, to raise funds for the Shaw Trust, a charity that helps disabled and disadvantaged people experience work, find jobs and live more independently.

The 29-year-old, who teaches music and PE at Lansdowne College, Notting Hill, said: “I think it’s a really good cause for a variety of people who are looking to try to get into employment and it’s a place where they can try to help themselves and get extra direction.”

After landing his place on the starting line next April, he now has to raise £1,000 to secure it and accomplish his goal.

“The London Marathon is an epic, global event and I have always wanted to complete it, so I thought why not fulfil an ambition and collect for charity at the same time,” he said.

Tony has already been running sessions at Ealing Common since January 2012. But this time, instead of charging a fee, he will be asking participants to make a small donation for each 45-minute class.

“This way, my boot-campers can get fit and feel better about themselves, while donating for a worthy cause,” he said.

“It’s a really fun atmosphere, It’s also a great way of getting into shape for Christmas.”

He has already completed a 40-mile run from Keswick to Barrow and has cycled the 1,140 miles from John O'Groats to Land’s End.

The fitness fanatic also plays rugby and is a personal trainer and rugby coach.

Sessions are held outdoors and will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from November 3 to December 12 at 6.45am.
