A SOUTHALL charity is thrilled after receiving a £500 windfall this week as part of the re-launch celebrations for Tesco Extra at Bull’s Bridge.
Janpal Basran, of Southall Community Alliance, was invited by store manager Steve Hall to cut a ribbon to mark the opening of the store’s new community space.
It offers local groups a free place to meet, host events, run workshops and even fitness sessions.
Mr Hall said: “It was great having Janpal with us at our re-launch celebrations and learning more about the positive role the Southall Community Alliance is playing in the area.”
Mr Basran said the money would help them arrange a community sports day.
Further events at the store include TV chef Manju Mahli cooking there on October 25 and children meeting Captain Barnacles and Kwazii, from the Octonauts, the following day.
