BUS tours of sites in the rich musical heritage of Ealing and Richmond are planned.
Access All Areas (GB), who have run similar tours throughout London since 1990, are launching two new routes in 2015, one concentrating on Ealing, Acton and Hanwell, the second including Twickenham and Richmond.
“There is huge potential for music-related tourism within Ealing,” said managing director Bruce Cherry.
“We intend to build on the excellent work the Ealing Blues Club has begun and to really highlight the importance of the region in the history of contemporary music.”
There is no shortage of places to visit or stories to tell: in addition to the importance of Marshall Amps, there’s the role of the old Ealing Art College, plus musicians and bands as diverse as Adam Faith, Dusty Springfield, The Who and Deep Purple, who have lived in or are from West London.
The number of tourists visiting London to discover its musical heritage is growing, with more than 8,000 rock fans from 57 different countries taking a London rock tour so far this year.
It is hoped the new tours will generate business for cafes, pubs, restaurants and souvenir shops, as well as attracting overseas tourists to stay in the borough.
Access All Areas is interesting in hearing from anyone with suggestions of places to include on the tour and especially from any rock fans interested in becoming a part-time tourist guide.
