POLICE investigating the murder of Alice Gross have found a body in Boston Manor Park.

Though no formal identification has been made, early indications suggest the body may be that of missing Ealing man and Arnis Zalkalns, prime suspect in the case.

His partner has been informed and a family liaison officer is supporting her.

The badly decomposed body was found by officers in dense woodland at 2pm on Saturday as part of their ongoing search.

Due to the nature of the surrounding area, recovery of the body was more complicated than usual. However, it was taken away this morning for a post-mortem.

Boston Manor Park is cordoned off while officers conduct a thorough search to ensure that all evidence is collected.

Sports matches, due to be played at the park today, were postponed.

Alice's family have been informed of developments.

Police are still appealing to the public for any information that can help them. The number to call is 0208 358 0100.

A spokesman said: “We again thank the public and media for helping us with this ongoing investigation. In particular we are grateful for the support of the local community in Ealing.”
