ACTRESS Barbara Windsor was among celebrities presenting awards to London’s most philanthropic individuals, teams, schools and organisations at City Hall.
Amongst them was Julia Milsome, of Ealing, who received the Mayor of London’s Long Service Award.
She has dedicated around 100 hours a week for 25 years of her life to volunteering with various charities and community initiatives.
She currently volunteers as community champion for the Dormer’s Wells ward in Southall.
Miss Milsome said: “When I look back on how some areas of the borough were, with graffiti and dumped rubbish, I feel a real sense of achievement that we now have a much cleaner, better place to live in.
“Thanks to the team I work with, I believe we are still meeting our goals.”
Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for environment, added: “Community champions like Julia play such a vital role in making our borough cleaner, safer and greener.
“Julia has proved what just one person can achieve, and I hope she inspires other residents to chip in and get involved to help make a difference in the community.”
