BATTERSEA Dogs & Cats Home is looking for volunteers from across London – but particularly Ealing - to help spread the message about the best ways to look after our cats and dogs.
It believes pet owners should be aware of their responsibilities, and that it’s helpful for families and children to know how to approach dogs they don’t know.
Battersea has a team of volunteers who go into schools, young offenders’ institutions and other organisations to help teach young people how to approach dogs safely, and how to train and look after their own dogs.
It is currently recruiting more and wants to increase its numbers in Ealing.
Battersea believes that speaking with groups and schools across the city and educating people about the importance of responsible pet ownership will help reduce the number of animals that stray or are abandoned.
Carly Whyborn, operations manager at Battersea, says: “We take in around 6,000 lost and abandoned dogs and cats a year, so we are extremely grateful to the many volunteers that provide their time carrying out such invaluable work for the home.”
