RESIDENTS of Grand Union Village in Northolt are being asked to give their views on what it’s like living in a neighbourhood designed to encourage sustainable living.

‘Sustainable living’ refers to ways of behaving that seek to minimise the impact of individuals and communities on the environment.

This includes, for example, decisions around choice of travel, where to shop and how to spend leisure time.

Those willing to take part in the University of Hertfordshire research project will each receive a £20 shopping voucher to thank them.

Dr John McCormack, research fellow, said: “We are investigating the extent to which the assumptions and intentions of housing developers, planners and architects - in respect of how best to promote sustainable, green living - are actually reflected in the day-to-day lives of residents.”

Residents will be asked to give their consent to an informal interview, of no more than an hour, which will take place either in their homes, at the Grand Union Village Community Development Trust offices in Weaver House (or at a mutually agreed alternative venue).

Interviews will take place from now until October, with the research findings being announced next summer.
