THREE Southall firms have been ordered to pay more than £3,400 in fines and costs after pleading guilty to fly-tipping offences.

The trio appeared at Ealing Court and admitted illegally dumping rubbish in Lady Margaret Road, despite warnings and advice from Ealing Council.

The offences all occurred in October and November 2013.

The businesses were sentenced as follows:

• Ariana Launderette, 430 Lady Margaret Road, was ordered to pay a total of £1184.52, including a £350 fine, £799.52 in costs and a £35 victim surcharge.

• Mya’s Hair Salon, 432 Lady Margaret Road, was ordered to pay a total of £1158.92.

• A dry cleaners located at 434 Lady Margaret Road, formerly known as Le Valet, was ordered to pay a total of £1104.52.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “These prosecutions were brought after the businesses had been given extensive advice on how to properly dispose of their waste and warned of the penalties of not doing so.

"Our notices were blatantly ignored by members of staff, who were caught on CCTV dumping rubbish on to the pavement.”

Ealing residents are urged to report fly-tipping. For more information visit: www.ealing.gov.uk/reportit
