EALING schoolgirls benefited from the “pukka” culinary skills and knowledge of Jamie Oliver in a one-hour cookery lesson today (Friday).
Year Two pupils from St Augustine’s Priory took part in Jamie’s Live TES cooking lesson for Food Revolution Day, along with hundreds of students in the UK and Australia.
The 24 girls were part of the chef’s bid to set a Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people in a cookery lesson, with events held over a 24-hour period at multiple venues.
After watching a cooking demonstration by Jamie, the pupils worked in groups to prepare a rainbow salad wrap.
The cook-off was designed to give students a taste of cookery and healthy eating, in line with Food Revolution Day’s mission to slow the increase of diet-related illnesses.
Sarah Raffray, head teacher of St Augustine’s Priory, said: “It’s wonderful for our girls to have the opportunity to take part in an initiative of this kind on a global scale, and for students across the world to have the chance to learn from someone like Jamie Oliver.”
