ACCLAIMED amateur theatre group the Beaufort Players will be performing the comedy Lettice and Lovage from March 27-29.
The award-winning troupe will be staging four performances at the Church of the Ascension Hall in Beaufort Road, Ealing.
Written by Peter Shaffer, best known for Equus and Amadeus, Lettice and Lovage is a sophisticated and witty production, originally created for Dame Maggie Smith.
It tells the story of Lettice Douffet, an ostentatious tour guide in England’s dullest stately home.
As her historical tour commentary becomes more embellished, her audience grows and she is brought to the attention of Lotte Schoen, an Inspector for the Preservation Trust.
Despite initial disagreements the women become close companions, until a surprising accident pushes their friendship to the limit.
Performances will start at 8pm. There will also be a matinee on Saturday, March 29 at 2:30pm. Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions) and can be bought through the Beaufort Players box office. Visit www.beaufortplayers.org.uk/boxoffice or call 07957 180288.
