A WHITEHALL grant of £1.13m will allow Ealing Council to pass on rewards to borough residents who recycle.

The Residents’ Rewards Scheme will begin in the Spring, assisted by Greenredeem, a recycling organisation.

People can register via a dedicated telephone number or smartphone app, to report on how they recycle, and qualify for points. These can be exchanged for discounts and special offers at local and national businesses.

They can also donate their points to community groups and schools and nominate worthy local projects.

The initiative supports a commitment to increase recycling in the borough from 41% to 50% by 2020. Recycling across the borough will be measured by the council and not individual households.

More information will be delivered to every home in the borough in late March, but for more information visit the Ealing Council website.
