TALENTED young artist Molly Ebdon, from Ealing, has designed this year’s Christmas e-card for supporters donating to Myeloma UK instead of giving Christmas cards or presents.

The seven-year-old supports Myeloma UK in memory of her grandmother, who died from myeloma, a rare blood cancer, in 2011.

She held a fund-raiser this year, baking cakes, selling toys and painting portraits of people’s pets.

And, after seeing her work, Myeloma UK asked Molly if she could create an e-card for supporters to send to friends and family, if they are donating in lieu of Christmas presents.

She said: “I love painting, especially the details of people and animals, like the light in their eyes. I think it really makes the painting look like it’s alive”.

Molly based the water-colour painting on her favourite toy polar bear, Poley, giving him a Santa hat and bauble for a Christmassy feel.

Her dad, Alex, says Molly is a member of her school’s student council.

“She spoke at her assembly about myeloma and Myeloma UK and is very keen to help raise awareness,” he added.

Molly said: “Not many people know about myeloma and the people who suffer from it.

“It would be really good to help to find ways to help people live longer with the disease and maybe one day find a cure."
