EALING-based filmmaker Lewis Robinson has been commended by an international judging panel for his debut short film, Forgotten, which throws the spotlight on Alzheimer’s Disease.

Lewis, who is just 19, will now attend the annual Gold Movie Awards in London in January to celebrate the best of independent film production talent.

He studied at the MetFilm School, based at Ealing Studios, and shot his short film on campus and in neighbouring Walpole Park.

Forgotten stars John McKenna, who played alongside Tom Hardy in the Kray twins film, Legend (2015) and Grahame Edwards who featured in The Dark Knight and BBC’s Doctors.

Lewis said: “I’ve always had a passion for film, which I believe is the most evocative way to gain emotional responses from audiences and the most powerful form of story-telling.

"Alzheimer’s affects a staggering 850,000 people in the UK each year and is a topic I wanted to shine a light on for personal reasons following a diagnosis in my family.

“I am humbled and delighted that my first film, Forgotten, has been recognised by such a highly-regarded awards programme and I hope it goes some way to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s and its effects.”

He is already working on his second screenplay, which he hopes to have in production before the end of the year.
