Soccer stars grace St Albans
FOOTBALL legends including Neville Southall and Michael Thomas will play in a charity five-a-side tournament in St Albans tomorrow.
The competition at the Old Albanians sports ground in Harpenden Road will feature teams from mortgage companies and building societies, each headed by a distinguished ex-professional.
Besides the Wales goalkeeper and the midfielder whose dramatic last-gasp goal won Arsenal the 1989 championship, other stars will include Warren Barton and Ruel Fox.
The event will raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust leukaemia charity, and is organised by mortgage brokers Lifetime Financial Management.
Chief executive officer Paul Merrigan said: "There can be no better way of us celebrating ten years in this business than by supporting the work of The Anthony Nolan Trust.
"Having an unforgettable day out with some football greats will really make a difference to people's lives.
"Someone is diagnosed with leukaemia every 21 minutes and for many sufferers their last chance of survival is to have a bone marrow transplant."
