GREENPEACE protesters who climbed on top of a British Airways plane at Heathrow Airport have been ordered to pay compensation totalling £5,700.

The five members of the campaign group pleaded guilty to being in a restricted zone, boarding an aircraft and demonstrating in an airport.

At Uxbridge Magistrates Court yesterday they were each sentenced to an 18 months conditional discharge as well as paying the fine to BA.

Anna Jones, Sarah Shoraka, Paul Della-Rocca, Frank Hewetson and Jens Loewe took direct action against the plans for a third runway and sixth terminal at the airport.

In February the five walked through an open door at Terminal 1 and protested on top of the BA Airbus for two hours.

They held a banner which read: Climate Emergency - No 3rd Runway.

I think BAA and BA should be grateful it was just greenpeace protesters that managed to walk through "an open door" and gain access to a restricted zone, could of been a lot more dangerous had it been anybody else!
