NOW is the ideal time to start creating your compost that will work wonders on the garden next year.

Composting is a great way to dispose of organic waste in your home and garden.  As well as grass cuttings and prunings, food waste like vegetable peelings, tea bags and even pet hair can all be composted.

In fact, the more varied the materials, the better quality your compost will be.
Gardeners recommend a 50/50 mix of ‘greens’ such as old flowers and leaves, and ‘browns’, such as coffee grounds, cardboard and vacuum cleaner dust.

Residents can buy reduced-price compost bins from Ealing Council. Prices start at £16 plus delivery.

The borough also offers a fortnightly waste collection. Those who sign up for the remainder of this financial year, until March 31, will be charged £30 (with a 25% discount for residents who are over 65).
