Football Foundation grant brings Spikes Bridge plans closer

Onwards and upwards at Spikes Bridge Park
SPIKES Bridge Park in Southall received a £90,000 grant from the Football Foundation on Monday.
It will go towards the replacement of a sports pavilion, which was demolished in 2007.
The pavilion will include a clubhouse for the London Tigers Football Club, as well as a venue for the Southall Community Alliance.
The grant was awarded for a joint initiative between the SCA, London Tigers and Ealing Council.
The Foundation is the largest sports charity in the country and is funded by the Football Association, Premier League and the Government.
It aims to raise the standard of grassroots community sports, to attract more people to them.
This grant will be added to the £545,000 of other external funding from the London Marathon Trust and London Mayor’s Playsport Legacy Fund already received, as well as £300,000 from the council.
Work will also include an upgrade of all the playing fields, a new artificial pitch and cricket training area.
