RESTORATION plans for Pitshanger Manor House and grounds in Walpole Park,have been given a boost, thanks to a £275,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Architects and designers will now work with the council and local community to draw up a detailed scheme for how the house, a Grade One listed building, will look once work is complete.
It will include reinstating original heritage features of Sir John Soane’s original house, completed in 1804, including the elaborately-decorated rooms.
Ealing Council Leader Julian Bell said: “We want the manor house not only to be of cultural importance, but also to be a real community asset that benefits everyone.
"I hope local people will take the chance to get involved.”
In total, the council is bidding for £3.8m to support the restoration and, after this initial success, will find out next year whether it will receive more funding at the second bidding round.
