RESIDENTS of Sibley Court, Hillingdon, have donated more than 50 coats to the homeless as part of the Salvation Army and ITV’s Daybreak Donate A Coat appeal.
The appeal encourages people to donate unwanted coats, to be handed out to rough sleepers and the homeless during the winter months.
Residents at the 29-bed centre in New Road spent two weeks collecting the coats after seeing the appeal on television.
Wayne Coles, a spokesman for The Salvation Army, said: “We want to reassure Sibley Court residents that the coats will go towards helping many people keep warm this winter.
“With outside temperatures threatening to fall below zero, the coats really can be a lifesaver.”
Gail Kennett, scheme manager at Sibley Court, said: ”It was great to give the residents the incentive to gather all these coats together and have the satisfaction of knowing they are helping people in need.”
