CRIME on Barnet’s buses dropped by nine per cent last year, according to figures released today by Transport for London.

Overall 880 incidents were reported to police last financial year, down from 996 in 2009/10.

Theft was the most reported crime, with 370 reports, with 237 violence incidents and 136 robberies.

The report claims crime on the transport network in the capital has fallen by four per cent on buses and seven per cent on the Tube and DLR.

Chief Superintendent Sultan Taylor, who runs the Met’s Safer Transport Command, said: “This continual drop in bus-related crime is thanks to partnership working with borough colleagues, and the intelligence-led policing capability of the Safer Transport Command and its Safer Transport Teams.

“Together we shall continue to tackle and reduce bus related crime and instil even more confidence in the public who use the transport network. “
