TWO criminals caught out by a massive sting operation on an Edgware safe deposit firm have been told to pay back nearly £120,000 of their illicit earnings.

Drug dealer Anthony Catz and benefit fraudster Petrit Kapllani were both caught as part of Operation Rize, which smashed a huge criminal network using the Safe Deposit Centre in High Street in 2008.

Three people who ra the centres have been jailed following the police raids, which netted millions in cash, drugs, stolen jewellery and even child porn.

On Friday at Southwark Crown Court Catz had £62,500 confiscated after pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine with a street value of £40,000, found in his box at the site.

Kapllani was also told to hand over £56,645 after theraid uncovered a huge benefit fraud he was running against Haringey and Enfield Councils, which scooped him more than £30,000.

Officers from Barnet Police’s financial investigation unit also had a third success on the same day when another drug dealer, David Changai, was told to pay £55,310 at a conviscation hearing.

In January he was jailed for growing cannabis in his Muswell Hill home in Colney Hatch Lane.

His barristers told the court he had no material assets, but prosecutors showed evidence he owned the house and a Range Rover, despite being unemployed.

The seizure represents the equity in the house and the value of the car, although police believe his criminal earnings may have been double the sum.
