TWO Ealing pubs have won Gold Awards for their work to combat anti-social behaviour.

The Plough, in Northfields Avenue, and The Townhouse, in Ealing Broadway, were rewarded as part of the Responsible Hosts Awards Scheme.

Presented by Stephen Pound MP, the awards were the culmination of a close-fought six month judging and advisory process.

The awards have received wide support from the industry and from political figures and were open to all pubs and bars right across the borough.

Andrew Durn, licensee of The Plough, said: "I'm lucky to have a good team here at the Plough. We work hard to make people's time here enjoyable and it's great to get this type of acknowledgement."

Nick Bish, of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers, said: "Publicans know that hospitality really only works with high standards of customer care and responsible retailing, and they are getting better and better at it.

"These awards in Ealing connect the pubs with their community in a way that does credit to everyone and are an example for other London boroughs to follow."
