CRICKET legend Phil Tufnell is calling on everyone in Ealing to take part in Macmillan Cancer Relief's new fundraising event Walk Wonders.
People are being encouraged to sign up today for their Thames Pathway Walk on Sunday, May 21, and help people in the area affected by cancer.
People of all ages can take part, starting from either Hammersmith or Woolwich with the option of stopping after five miles or continuing on to ten. The final destination will be Tower Bridge, where a welcoming committee will provide much-needed refreshments.
Phil Tufnell said: "I think that Walk Wonders is a smashing idea and I will definitely be pulling my boots on to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief. You don't have to be mega fit why not get a gang together, go walking and enjoy the walk along the Thames?"
Paul Stein, Macmillan fundraising manager for north London said: "Around 1,000 people here in Ealing are diagnosed with cancer each year, so the need for Macmillan's specialist professionals, information and expert care is growing.
"This really is the perfect excuse for a springtime Sunday walk in the fresh air with friends and family, taking in London's famous landscape, while raising money to help people living with cancer."
Entry is £5 per adult and it's free for children under 16. To take part, readers should call 0845 673 0705 or for more information visit www.macmillan.org.uk/walk.
