DAWN raids were carried out in Beaconsfield as police attempted to demonstrate their zero tolerance approach to drug dealers.

More than 20 police officers took part in three simultaneous dawn drug raids.

Officers from the Buckinghamshire Police Area, CID and other specialist teams raided three addresses in Shepherds Close, Yew Tree Close and Chesterton Green in Beaconsfield at 6.45am on Friday.

One eyewitness in Shepherds Close, who did not wish to be named, said: "There was a lot of commotion on Friday morning and there were police everywhere.

"The officers were here for some time. Both the addresses were on the first floor."

Police say they seized a large quantity of substances believed to be cocaine, drugs paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount of money and several mobile phones from the address in Shepherds Close and cannabis from the address in Yew Tree Close.

PC Paul Shovelton from Beaconsfield, who led the operation, said: "This was a very positive result, as we attempt to crack down on drug dealers across the county.

"These operations do have an impact on the area.

"If people see the police obtain and act on warrants issued on those suspected to be using or dealing in controlled substances, people know we are doing our job, and it can help to deter offenders from coming into the area. We have a zero tolerance policy on drugs, and will take a robust approach in tackling these types of issues."
