PET owners will be given the lowdown on how to care for their animals during an organised day event.

Staff at Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre, Church Road, Hanwell, will be on hand on Wednesday, August, 17, from 2pm to 4pm, to teach youngsters more about pet care and there is no need to take your own pet.

The centre's staff will tell the visitors all about the animals they have at the centre, ranging from the domestic to the exotic and talks and demonstrations will be held throughout the afternoon on the various aspects of care of rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, spiders and goats.

Ann Morrice, centre manager, said: "We are hosting this day for local children to teach them about a serious subject in a fun way. We will be discussing the care of various pets and trying to increase their awareness of issues like the impact of poor care and neglect."

Leaflets and information sheets will be provided at the end of the day so that the children can continue the good practices they have learned about when they get back home to their own animals."

The event costs £1.50 per person. To book call 020 8825 7529.
