EXTRA police officers and traffic restrictions will be in place over the weekend as large crowds are expected to celebrate independence days.
Visitors to the Southall area are being asked to leave their cars at home if they are planning on celebrating the Pakistan and India Independence Days on Sunday and Monday.
Superintendent Laura Nicholson, said: "Local community representatives are fully supportive of our policing strategy to combat unacceptable behaviour, which will allow the celebrations on both Independence Days to pass without incident.
"I would encourage people who intend to meet up with family and friends to celebrate the Independence Days in the Southall area to use public transport, which will help us minimise congestion in the area."
The traffic restrictions will be in place from 5.30pm on Sunday, August 14 and Monday, August 15, and will remain in place until the early hours of each following day.
