THE nibbles were out, the wine was chilled and my two personal beauty therapists were all set up and ready to go, all I needed were my friends and my pamper party could begin.

Most people have heard of Ann Summers parties and Tupperware parties, but my friends and I were about to experience what can only be described as the ultimate chill-out get together' as I hosted my first pamper party.

The idea behind the concept is that whether it's a hen party, a birthday celebration, a reunion, a new job, a special treat or just a girls' night in, The Pamper Party gives you and your friends an opportunity to relax and chill out.

John Durrant, managing director of The Pamper Party, a division of The Pamper Company, says: "We can tailor a pamper party to suit everyone's needs. For most hen parties, we offer a pamper party in the afternoon, so the girls could go out on the town in the evening.

"We organise Pamper Parties nationwide through our area representatives. The great advantage is that the therapists come to you in the comfort of your own home, so you and your guests can really relax."

The first thing I had to do was make my booking. I was contacted by my local representative Charlotte Atkinson who emailed me a booking form for me to complete and return. This gives details of the venue, the time, the date and most importantly how many guests I was having.

Luckily for me, my friends knew exactly what they wanted and how long they wanted it for. They opted for facials, manicures, pedicures and massages. There are other treatments available but you need to check with your representative first if the therapists do what you have requested. I opted for a 30-minute facial and a 15-minute neck, back and shoulder massage.

My party was at 7pm and my two therapists for the evening, Charlotte Ford and Jolene Neagle, arrived about 20 minutes before my guests so they could set up. All the therapists bring their own equipment from couches and relaxing music to oils and towels. I just had to ensure there was enough room for them, so I made space in two bedrooms upstairs.

Both Charlotte and Jolene are full-time beauty therapists who work in their own salons during the day, but are available to The Pamper Company for parties.

Sangita Patel, 31, is a new mum and my pamper party was the perfect answer to her normal day with 11-month old Maya.

She says: "It was absolutely amazing. Pure indulgence. I got to have lots of girly-time and giggles, and got pampered at the same time.

"I felt very indulged and the treatments were really good. The therapists were both really nice and they made us feel comfortable."

Although it may sound quite complicated, the party worked quite well. While two of us were having our treatments, the rest of us were having a good time, drinking, eating and gossiping as we waited for our turn.

Charlotte was my therapist for my facial and before she began she asked me a few questions about my skincare routine and what products I normally use. This is so she knows what condition my skin is in and whether she needs to use any particular products.

All the therapists bring their own products and they talk you through what they are doing. I had to sheepishly admit to Charlotte that I don't actually have a daily skincare routine and began to panic that I had allowed my skin to become damaged.

But Charlotte was quite nice about it and advised me that I should have a daily routine as it helps replenish the skin and gets rid of any dead skin and that I did not have to spend hundreds of pounds on expensive products.

"I felt very relaxed and I could see instant results after my facial. When I came downstairs all my friends commented on how much my face was glowing after the treatment.

The therapists also have breaks during the party, so they don't tire themselves out and all this is included in the schedule you are given.

Another guest, Rajani Beeharry, opted for a luxury facial but she is in the first trimester of her pregnancy so she notified her therapist beforehand so that the appropriate products could be used.

My second treatment was a massage which was being done by Jolene. She asked me how I prefer my massage because there is nothing worse than getting a massage you're not happy with. Personally I don't like too much pressure as my skin bruises easily so Jolene asked me to tell her what I was comfortable with while she was doing the massage.

Although I was in my own bedroom, I was able to switch off and imagine I was at a spa. There was relaxing music playing in the background, which Jolene brought with her, and I was able to enjoy my much-needed neck, back and shoulder massage.

Admittedly, I felt so relaxed afterwards that I was ready for bed instead of continuing with the party.

The Pamper party I hosted was for one of my best friends called Sonal as a pre-hen do before we go to Majorca for the big weekender at the end of the month and she absolutely loved it.

Most of us would love to get pampered at a luxury health spa or country retreat but the huge costs sometimes means it is nigh on impossible to do. The Pamper Party is not only cost effective at an average of £30 to £40 per person depending on the type of party, it is also great fun and you don't have to worry about driving anywhere.

Sonal, 29, says: "It was really nice. All the treatments were fantastic and it gave me a chance to spend some quality time with my girls before my big day."

The evening was a huge success and something we all thoroughly enjoyed. All I need to do now is convince my friends to hold their own parties so the fun can start all over again.
