Cricket: WYCOMBE Warriors' National Knockout Cup dreams are still alive after they beat Ealing with the last ball of the game.

The London Road club are through to the last 32 of the competition and halfway to a showpiece final at Lord's.

Wycombe appeared to be dead and buried after losing four wickets for just 25 runs.

But they fought back superbly, with Mark Morgan smashing an unbeaten 73 to give Warriors a total of 187-8.

Ealing were ten runs from the target with one over left but some impressive bowling from Paul Woodroffe meant that Ealing needed a six off the final ball.

They only managed two runs, which put Wycombe through to the next round and set up a match at Middlesex League leaders Winchmore Hill on June 26.

Skipper Paul Sawyer was delighted with the way his side fought back.

He said: "We had a brilliant game. We were never really in the game until the last ten overs but then we killed the game. We are a team of winners and we've proved that."

Last year's winners Kibworth, who beat Wycombe in the semi-finals, are already out of the competition.

And the team they beat in the final Ockbrook and Borrowash were also early casualties.

But Sawyer is thinking no further than the next round.

He said: "Winchmore Hill are a really good side. It will probably be the toughest game of the season."

High Wycombe cricket co-ordinator Richard Lewis said: "This ground and this team is one of the most difficult in London to get a result from. The Warriors have done this two years in a row.

"The fielding and Mark Morgan's innings were the turning points in a historical win for us."
