A MAN was arrested in Hayes in connection with alleged drugs trafficking, forgery and counterfeiting offences.
The arrest is one of the first major operations carried out by Operation Quadrant, which tackles serious and organised crime in London's South Asian communities.
Officers executed search warrants at three addresses in Southall, Hayes and Hillingdon last Thursday evening.
Detectives say they seized approximately one kilo of opium, half a kilo of heroin, counterfeit passports, stamps, credit cards and driving licenses. They also recovered computer equipment capable of producing false documentation. Police say the operation involved five months of intelligence development around a South Asian organised criminal network based in the UK which impacted on several Asian communities in London.
Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, who is leads Operation Quadrant said: "This is one of the first operations undertaken by Quadrant. The South Asian community have been incredibly supportive of this initiative since its inception."
