PLANS to construct a 200-acre community leisure park are set to be discussed at a public meeting.
The next stage in the consultation on the Northala Fields project will be at Northolt Golf Club, off Huxley Close, today at 7pm. Council officers have drawn up an overall strategy for the park, formerly Kensington and Chelsea Playing Fields in Northolt, and now want to consult on the details.
The site, currently open grassland, covers Belvue Park, Greenford Birchwood, Greenford Lagoons, Marnham Fields, Medlar Park, Northala Field, Northolt Manor Rectory Park and Smiths Farm.
The plan features a series of themed areas, linked by footpaths and bridges so that it will be possible to access all areas without having to cross busy roads. Themes include historical interest, conservation and wildlife, playgrounds, a fishing lake, all-weather five-a-side pitches and BMX facilities.
A council spokeswoman said: "Providing the correct planning permission is granted, work could begin in early 2003."
