AN ODE to the pleasures of making love has won a sculptor of animated creatures the title of Middlesex's Poetry Champion of the Year.

Graham High of Witham Road, Isleworth, entered a contest to find each town's most talented poet, hoping his lyrical prowess could earn him the title of Hounslow's finest.

However, he impressed the judges so much that he was chosen to represent the county of Middlesex in the National Poetry Anthology 2002.

His poem, Unspoken, which is about making love outside, was inspired by personal experience.

Graham, 52, has been writing poems for 30 years and has had four collections of his verse published. He said: "I will take great pleasure in knowing that people will be able to read my poem in the National Poetry Anthology and hope they feel I am a worthy winner."

We have five copies of the 2002 National Poetry Anthology to give away to the first five people to write in to Poetry Competition, Times & Guardian Newspapers, Ground Floor Annexe, Hayes Gate House, 27 Uxbridge Road, Hayes, UB4 0JN.
