A YOUNG jewellery store manager feared for his life when armed robbers held a revolver to his head before escaping with £30,000 worth of goods.

Mian Khan, 26, owner of Khan Jewellers in Beaconsfield Road, Southall, was one of four people in the store when the suspects entered at 7.15pm on Tuesday last week.

Mr Khan was dealing with a customer when the first suspect approached the counter, pulled a revolver and pointed it straight at him.

He told the Times: "I instinctively went down on the floor behind the counter and heard the man jump over to where I was lying. I was extremely frightened and thought I may die."

The next thing Mr Khan heard was the display cabinets being smashed, and he looked up to see the three men, all of West Indian appearance and in their mid-20s, grabbing whatever gold and jewellery they could. Moments later they destroyed internal doors to make their escape.

Mr Khan, who is married, said: "I have never been robbed and I have never thought about dying before. We're not sure how much they got away with yet but the figure will be close to £30,000."

Police are appealing for witnesses. Information to 8810 1212.
